MEMORIAL DAY 2017
Remembering and Honoring
Those Who Gave Their Lives…
We do not say HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY, since such a slogan is a slap in the face to the spirit of the holiday and the deceased veterans responsible for it. Today is a day of memorial to those who died for their country. Their deaths are not meant to be celebrated as a “Happy” occasion.
Just as no one would ever say “Happy Funeral” to someone memorializing a loved one, nor should we continue the mistake of saying “Happy Memorial Day.” That slogan is reserved for Veteran’s Day, when we happily celebrate all veterans who served their country in the military.
