"…are we truly leaving Iraq behind for good, especially since a formal government is not yet in place and the Iraqi military is not yet at the ready?"Short answer: No. Though operations have significantly wound down (and the President plans to remove most if not ALL of the remaining troops by some time next year) the men and women still serving over there know full darn that the combat mission ain't over! 2. "Or is the United States forever tied to protecting Iraq from hostile takeover, since we're the ones responsible for dismantling the government and its army?"Short answer: Um_who knows??? (shrugging my shoulders)One thing I do know. Iraq is a schizophrenic AND corrupt mess. Iran will likely end up the biggest winner of this colossal American foreign policy disaster.
